Welcome
to the home of the Golden Spike Volleyball Club. GSVC is located
in Coquitlam B.C. Canada. The club is now in its 8th year of existence
and has teams in both the Juvenile and Midget boys categories. GSVC
is run for players in the Coquitlam / Tri-Cities, and Burnaby area.
In past years the club has been Provincial Champions as well as
Western Canadian Champions. Many players from Golden Spike have
gone on to play for Regional and Provincial Teams as well as College
and University teams.
News:
May 18, 2001: Now
it is the real end to the club season. This may be the final
year of the Golden Spike Volleyball Club unless some coaches
decide to keep the club alive. If whoever continues wants to keep
this website than please e-mail me at: benrobinson13@home.com
, I would be happy to
maintain the site for you, otherwise everything will be gone.
May 16, 2001: Golden
Spike had an excellent showing at the Canadian National
Championships where the finished 9th out of a field of 24. The
team was the 2nd highest placing BC team behind #1 BC Seed
Victoria, and ahead of #2 Powell River and #3 Kelowna.
Congratulations to the team on their excellent outcome at the
Canadian Nationals.
May 4, 2001: The
season is not over yet. Golden Spike was given a berth to
the Canadian Nationals to be held in Toronto May 11-13. The
club will be entering the tournament as BC #4 which is not bad
considering they are only 2 points away from BC #1 Victoria.
Good luck to the team and bring back the gold.
April
24, 2001: The
club season is now over. This years team finished 7th in the
province. The team lost in the quater-final match to
eventual provincials champions Victoria by scores of 25-22, 23-25,
12-15. Excellent season and I hope someone keeps GSVC alive.
April 21, 2001: Juvenile
boys head of to the BC Provincials at Simon Fraser University in
Burnaby.
April
13, 2001: Juvenile Boys win the
GSVC playday.
April
10, 2001: Juvenile boys finished 3rd at FVVC
Tournament. The team beat Fraser Valley in their opening
playoff match (16-25,25-12,15-4) and then lost to Kelowna in the
semi-final in the close 16-14 third set match.
